Minor Athlete and Guardian Policy
Version 2026-02-17.1. Effective February 17, 2026.
This policy explains how All Things NIL treats age, public athlete information, and parent or guardian accounts. It separates what the product does today from safeguards that are proposed and not turned on.
1. What the product does today
- Signup asks the user to check that they are at least 13 and, if under 18, that a parent or guardian knows they are creating the account. The box starts unchecked.
- That check is a self-attestation. We do not verify a government ID, a credit card, a signed form, or a knowledge-based question.
- Athlete onboarding asks whether the athlete is 18 or older. Under 18, public contact is stored as hidden and directory listing is forced off.
- A parent can link with an invite code. A linked parent can later publish or hide the athlete’s public contact. Publishing contact can also allow directory listing.
- Changing from an athlete profile to another profile type does not remove the minor flag on the athlete record.
- Team invites stay pending until the athlete accepts. Acceptance does not automatically show the athlete on a public roster.
2. Under 13
Proposed rule, not activated: All Things NIL will not knowingly register a child under 13, and will delete an account when we know the user is under 13. The current screen relies on the user’s checkbox. It does not meet the verifiable parental consent methods in the COPPA Rule. Linking a parent account does not meet that standard.
If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email support@allthingsnil.com with the account email and your relationship to the child. We will review the request. There is no instant self-serve deletion.
3. Ages 13 through 17
Teen athletes may have an account under the current checkbox. Public contact and the athlete directory stay off until a linked parent publishes them. Photos, video links, school, sport, and a public NIL Page can still be published by the athlete. A parent link does not automatically approve those materials.
Proposed rule, not activated: require a linked guardian before a minor athlete can publish a NIL Page, appear in a directory, show a roster row, display contact information, or apply to a Match Play opportunity. Counsel must approve that rule before it is enforced. Messaging and opportunity tools that require CONNECT Pro are still available to a minor who has a paid subscription. That is a gap, not a promise that those tools are appropriate for every minor.
4. Guardian responsibilities
A parent account can see linked athlete information the product exposes and can publish or hide public contact. Parents should review photos, film, school, graduation year, and contact details before they are public. Withdrawing contact publication hides those contact fields going forward. It does not, by itself, recall copies already viewed or indexed by search engines.
A guardian who wants the athlete account deleted should submit a deletion request from Settings or email support@allthingsnil.com. The request is queued. It is not an automatic deletion.
5. Schools and academic notes
A school page shows program information and roster rows the product is allowed to show. It is not a transcript system, and no school-records agreement is required. If a GPA appears, the athlete entered it. All Things NIL does not verify that GPA. A recruiter who wants to confirm it checks with the athlete or the school directly. Athletes still accept roster invitations before they are treated as active members.
6. Consent records
Signup stores an age attestation. A parent who publishes a minor’s contact stores a separate record tied to that parent and that athlete. Those records show what was clicked. They are not a COPPA consent file.
